Ula Deru Simić

Promoting democracy and accessibility of art

Ula Deru Simić is a Belgian-Serbian curator and researcher working across contemporary art and design.

 

Graduated from a BA in spatial creation and product design at CAD in Brussels, she then moved to London for GDIP contemporary art history at Goldsmiths, and finally MA culture criticism and curation at Central Saint Martins, she has experience in both public and private institutions, including Nino Mier Gallery or Ralph Pucci Gallery and the European Parliament’s Contemporary Art Collection.

 

Currently, she collaborates with the private Collection Servais, giving guided tours of the permanent exhibitions, supporting collection visibility and digital communication. And she’s also developing the CUR8 app in London and Brussels through digital content creation, reviews of art exhibitions, interviews with artists and curators. With the aim of enhancing audience engagement and visibility for the CUR8 application.

 

She is also a PhD candidate at Central Saint Martins, UAL, researching the instrumentalisation of contemporary art in war areas, with the case study of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Belgrade in post-Yugoslav Serbia.

 

Her practice is driven by a commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and cross-disciplinary dialogue in the arts.
